Clinical Ultrasound Trainer
Nairobi, Kenya
Irene Chebet Chenge is a diagnostic radiographer and sonographer whose practice spans general, vascular and cardiac ultrasound. She is one of the few trainers on the faculty with formal echocardiography training, and she teaches the cardiac and vascular components of QualCare's POCUS programme.
She trains nurses, clinical officers and medical officers in point-of-care ultrasound — preparing and delivering the theoretical lectures, running the practical hands-on sessions, and teaching the equipment handling that determines whether a clinician can actually get a usable image once the trainer has gone home.
She is a radiographer at RFH Healthcare's Ruai branch, where she performs general, cardiac and vascular ultrasound, CT, general X-ray, HSG and barium studies, and oversees the daily radiology workflow. Before that she spent nearly two years with Jionee Mobile Medical Diagnostics performing general radiography, special examinations, ultrasound and ECGs alongside consultant radiologists.
Her certificate in echocardiography and electrocardiography from the Nairobi West Hospital College of Health Sciences included a clinical attachment performing and interpreting transthoracic echocardiograms and ECGs under experienced cardiologists.
