Stephen Victor Cobbina is an expert sonographer, educator and clinic director based in Accra. He holds a doctorate in management with a healthcare specialisation and a Professional Masters in Medical Ultrasound, and teaches on QualCare Africa's sonography faculty.
He has taught ultrasound at Klintaps College of Health and Allied Sciences in Tema as assistant lecturer in small-parts sonography, delivering the vascular sonography curriculum, building practical demonstrations, guiding students through hands-on scanning technique and image interpretation, and contributing to curriculum development. He has also authored an online Doppler ultrasound course for practising sonographers.
As CEO and Chief Sonographer of Smart Sonography Diagnostic Centre he has run a diagnostic practice since 2014 — overseeing operations and clinical standards, supervising a team of sonographers, and personally conducting and interpreting obstetric, abdominal, small-parts, vascular and musculoskeletal examinations. He mentors junior sonographers and runs continuing professional development for his staff.
His earlier practice at Family Health Diagnostic Centre and Ashongman Community Hospital covered the full breadth of general sonography: abdominal organ assessment, vascular demonstration and haemodynamic evaluation with colour and power Doppler, and the reporting discipline that makes a scan useful to the referring clinician.
